The crew are your hosts for the holiday, and we are there to ensure that your time aboard Anam Cara is memorable. We provide half-board meals and attend to all housekeeping.

The skipper, in conjunction with the guests, will work out a suitable itinerary for the holiday depending on your particular wants and needs. He will sail the boat and provide informal tuition if required, as well as dealing with any port authority formalities. The skipper is responsible for the safety of the whole crew.

The Chef/ First Mate is responsible for provisioning the boat and preparing meals, as well as assisting on deck as required.

The crew’s role will adapt to suit the guests. Competent sailors can command the yacht using the skipper and first mate as crew as required. Alternatively if you just wish to sit back and enjoy the view and the sunshine, the crew can sail the boat unaided. It’s completely up to you!

The Skipper

Andrew Garratt is a very well qualified and experienced Yachtsman, he has over a hundred thousand nautical miles in his log book. He is an RYA Ocean Yachtmaster Instructor and has commercial endorsements for both sail and power vessels.

He enjoys nothing more than sharing his knowledge and love of sailing with anyone who is interested in learning. He spent a season as a yachting Instructor with John Goode’s world renowned Southern Sailing School with whom he keeps close contact. He takes a delight in teaching “seamanship” to those guests who want to extend their knowledge of sailing.

Hostess/First Mate

Lesley Cooke was born and raised in Bristol, England. With a background in finance and hospitality, she is an accomplished Hostess and First Mate.

Lesley has always been a keen cook. Her speciality is good home cooking with the emphasis on locally sourced, fresh and wholesome ingredients.

Years of traveling and recent summers cooking on charter yachts have expanded her repertoire to include more sophisticated Mediterranean and International cuisine as well.

Lesley will ensure that your particular culinary needs are met.
